Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you service?

We cover the areas between Brunswick and Nobleboro, and as far inland as Dresden/Richmond. However, if you are outside this region we may still be able to accommodate you.

What animals do you treat?

At this time, Midcoast Canine Physical Therapy is focused on treating dogs and cats. For other creatures, please contact us.

What type of visits do you offer?

All new patients must have an initial evaluation, where we will assess your pet and formulate a treatment plan. Follow-up visits are scheduled to progress exercises and complete subsequent evaluations to monitor progress. Follow-ups can be scheduled as necessary.

Can any physical therapist work on pets?

No! To work with animals professionally as a physical therapist, you need to have completed an accredited certification and internship. Following this, physical therapists can become CCRT’s (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapists).

What does it mean to be CCRT?

A CCRT physical therapist has undergone extensive post-graduate training specifically focused on animal biomechanics, exercise, hydrotherapy, and rehabilitation modalities such as electrical stimulation.

Do I need a veterinarian’s referral?

Yes, the easiest way is to have your vet send a referral and pertinent records to Katie at MidcoastCanineRehab.com.

I have pet insurance. Does this cover the costs of animal physical therapy?

At this time, Midcoast Canine Physical Therapy does not accept pet insurance. If finances are a concern, contact us and we will work with you.
